A Take Back the Night action in York Region! September 28th to 30th. Women will be walking over two nights to raise awareness of sexual violence and in solidarity with the Night Commuters of Uganda, who for the past 20 years must walk nightly to find safe places and to flee violence. Walkers will go from Steeles and Woodbine Avenues to the shores of Lake Simcoe in Georgina, over the two nights. This is also a fundraiser to support the Women's Support Network of York Region to support survivors affected by sexual violence. Invite family, friends, co-workers, social groups and neighbours to come out on the nights of September 28 and 29. Contact the Women's Support Network for pledge sheets and be part of making our communities a safe place for all at night. |
