^{We had an absolutely rockin' rally on Thursday in Toronto!! The speakers were mobilizing and the spoken word and song performances were moving, inciteful and just plain eloquent in every way. We so appreciate the words and music, the chants and action participation of those who attended. Unfortunately, no media attended. (Big shock!) We feel sorry for the folks that weren't able to join us today, but there's still time to be part of it. HERE is our rally action piece! Lanark County Interval House Supports Step it Up!

On June 15th, workers at Lanark County Interval House distributed Step it Up! flyers and buttons around the County.? Shoppers' Drug Mart supported the shelter to hand out flyers at local stores.

In the 2007 campaign, members of the Ontario Association of Interval and Transition Houses (OAITH) created some messages for Ministers and MPPs in the new Ontario government. Anyone can send a message to Step it Up! Decide on your message about what we need to end violence against women, take a picture and send it to us at info@StepItUpOntario.ca with a note giving us permission to put it up on our website.

Phoebe, a 12-year-old girl from Northern Ontario, has a great idea for young people to make everyone aware of poverty and violence against women. She weaves bracelets of white and purple — white for an end to poverty and purple for an end to violence against women. Phoebe sells her bracelets and donates half of her money to her local food bank. She knows that women and children who have to start again after leaving a violent home are often poor in Ontario.

Stop racism/ oppression; make Ontario accessible.

End poverty — NOW!

Create and maintain housing, non-profit childcare, training — NOW!

Provide fair access to justice for women.

Hold violent men accountable for their actions.

Stop criminalizing and psychiatrizing women.

Demand secure funding for women's organizations.

Listen to survivors and women's advocates — they are the experts!
